Academic Seminar on Urban Planning
December 4th 2014, the Department of Urban Planning (HCMUARC) jointly conducted a seminar with a delegation of Queensland University (Australia) led by Assoc. Prof. Ann Peterson accompanied with 20 graduates students.
Dr. Do Phu Hung – Dean the Department of Urban Planning addressed many existing issues in urban planning of Ho Chi Minh City: urban structure, vision for urban planning, city’s territory and natural environment, evolving challenges, future public transport, solid wastes and water treatment, adaptation to changing climate, housing policy, and urban environmental protection.
Associate professor Ann Peterson expressed her sincere thanks to the University for providing relevant and updated information concerned with urban planning in developing countries in general and Vietnam in particular.
The delegation hopefully wish that both institutions will build and develop comprehensive relationship for collaborations of mutual interests: academics/student exchange, material exchange, capacity building to make good conditions for maintaining academic collaborative activities.
Shortly the seminar, Dr. Hung and Ms. Hoang Lan guided the delegation on a field trip to Southern urban area of HCM city, Binh Hung Hoa waste water treatment plant, District 6 urban area, Phu Dinh Wharf (District 6).
This is the second official visit of Queensland University to HCMUARC in 2014.
